Much of the workload of a specialist endodontist is retreatment – redoing root canal treatment that has not been carried out well and has failed.

Of course, failure is not just due to poor quality treatment, it can be multifactorial, but the vast majority are due to fundamental aims of treatment not being achieved, with infection allowed to enter the canal system, not removed, or re-establishing itself, creating an even more complex problem than prior to initial treatment. The bacteria are more tenacious and difficult to remove and retreatment success rates are lower than that for primary treatment.

Not all patients have access to a specialist endodontist or can be accepted to busy hospital endodontic departments, so many of these teeth are routinely extracted.

"If you really want to be root treating and saving teeth that ... will function in health for many years... then the answer is simple; get your Endo right – first time!"

If you really want to be root treating and saving teeth that you can be confident will function in health for many years, and consequently doing the very best for your patients, then the answer is simple….. Get your Endo right – First Time!

This 4 day course will provide you with a knowledge of how to get it right first time through an understanding of:

  • The aims and objectives of successful primary endodontic treatment.
  • How to achieve a correct diagnosis and avoid teeth you are unlikely to get right first time.
  • How to isolate properly and place rubber dam rapidly.
  • The use of magnification and light to properly visualise internal pulp chamber and root canal anatomy (how else can you get it right?).
  • Modern efficient canal preparation and disinfection techniques together with simplified protocols for rotary and hand NiTi endodontics.
  • Methods for rapid and efficient 3-dimensional canal obturation.
  • These course objectives will be achieved through small group presentations, practical-based on-line documentation, demonstrations, and hands-on practical tasks using operating microscopes and phantom simulators with unique ‘Academy’ teeth. Live session treatment from the surgery will be shown through the audio and video links.

Each day will provide 7 hours of certified CPD.
